Blindspot Gallery is proud to announce that Wang Tuo has been selected as the winner of the K21 Global Art Award 2024, established by the Friends of the Kunstsammlung and the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen in Düsseldorf, Germany. The award includes the purchase of the multi-channel video installation The Second Interrogation (2023), which will be on view at K21, the museum of contemporary art of the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen, from 24 May 2024.
The annual K21 Global Art Award celebrates the vision and courage of internationally recognized emerging and mid-career artists under the age of 45. The award has a jury of five international museum directors and curators. Wang was nominated by Doryun Chong (Deputy Director and Chief Curator of M+ in Hong Kong), who is among the nomination jury consisting of Koyo Kouoh (Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa, Capetown); Omar Kholeif (Sharjah Art Foundation, Government of Sharjah, UAE); Oluremi C. Onabanjo, (The Museum of Modern Art, New York); and Jochen Volz (Pinacoteca de São Paulo).
