Kazuko Miyamoto

Kazuko Miyamoto is a prominent post-minimalist and feminist visual artist who challenges the gendered classic Minimalist sculpture. She is best known for her signature “string constructions”, architectural and geometric sculptures crafted by anchoring thousands of cotton threads to walls and floors using delicate nails. By weaving labour, scale, time, and elements of her Japanese heritage into these geometric grids, Miyamoto infuses abstract forms with poetic translucency, bodily presence, and personal memory.
