He Zike

b. 1990, Guiyang, China

He Zike works across video, writing, performance, installation, prints, and computer programs to explore how an individual perceives oneself and time under the flow of information, media, and technology milieu. Drawn from her lived experiences in her hometown of Guiyang, China’s data capital, He creates fictional narratives that explore the impacts of the digital realm on contemporary life, exploring the disorders that lie beneath these ostensibly well-structured systems. She works with researchers to develop artistic projects revolving around databases, machine learning, electronics, deep time, archives, memories, and consciousness.

He Zike is the finalist of the 5th VH Award of Hyundai Motor Group, and was selected to be in the residency program of Pro Helvetia, the Swiss Arts Council in 2023. Her works were recently exhibited at Museum MACAN (Jakarta, 2024), Beiqiu Museum of Contemporary Art (Nanjing, 2023), TAG Museum (Qingdao, 2023), A4 Museum (Chengdu, 2022), Hongcheon Art Museum (Gangwon-do, 2019), Museum für Neue Kunst (Freiburg, 2017), OCAT Shanghai (Shanghai, 2017), and Ming Contemporary Art Museum (Shanghai, 2016).
