Description
Now, and Then? is the first artist monograph of Un Cheng, published on the occasion of her solo exhibition “Bedroom Paintings” at Blindspot Gallery. The exhibition presents a new body of work centered on the idea of the “bedroom painting”— a term coined by the artist to evoke intimate vignettes that reveal her introspective observations of her studio, living space, and the world beyond.
The monograph features selected works from 2017 to the present and includes three essays. The first, written by Mimi Chun, Founder and Director of Blindspot Gallery, offers an overview of the development of Cheng’s practice during this period. Independent curator Nick Yu provides critical insights into Cheng’s paintings through her internal and psychological landscapes, while writer Ingrid Chu contributes a richly analytical essay that draws connections between Cheng’s work and that of other female painters.
