Blindspot Gallery is proud to announce that Isaac Chong Wai has been selected as the winner of the Art Award of the City of Nordhorn 2024, established by the city of Nordhorn and the Association of the Friends of Städtische Galerie Nordhorn in Germany.
The Städtische Galerie Nordhorn will present Chong’s solo exhibition on the occasion of the award ceremony in February 2025. A catalogue will also be published to accompany the exhibition.
The prize has been awarded annually since 1979 to artists who have attracted attention with a fresh and trans-regionally significant work.
“Isaac Chong Wai’s artistic work responds to global phenomena through reflecting on specific human interactions and profoundly personal feelings. His work emerges at the intersection between the individual and the community, often exploring politically relevant themes. Chong articulates the political through a poetic language, making the exercise of power and violence in social systems tangible as a narrative, particularly concerning the vulnerability of the body.” – the Art Award of the City of Nordhorn.
