Hao Jingban’s solo exhibition will open at Mori Art Museum in Tokyo

Hao Jingban’s latest video installation I Witness (2025) will premiere in “MAM Collection 021: Hao Jingban”, opening to the public from 3 December 2025 to 29 March 2026 at Mori Art Museum in Tokyo, Japan.

Hao is the winner of the Han Nefkens Foundation, Mori Art Museum, M+ Hong Kong and Singapore Art Museum – Moving Image Commission 2023. Created as part of the commission, 𝙄 π™’π™žπ™©π™£π™šπ™¨π™¨ is a three-channel video installation which β€œtakes a sympathetic look at the memories of people who lost loved ones during the pandemic, but were never given sufficient time or place to mourn and grieve. The work quietly identifies with their feelings, which were never expressed in words. Hao assembled a group of people with experience in authentic movement, a form of dance therapy involving the relationship between β€˜movers’ who with their eyes closed, follow impulses to express through motion, and β€˜witnesses’ who observe them.” β€” Cho Sunhye

The artist will have an Artist Talk with exhibition curator Cho Sunhye, introduced by Mori Art Museum Director Mami Kataoka and Mr. Han Nefkens, at Opening Night on 3 December (19:00-20:30) at Auditorium, Mori Art Museum. This talk will be conducted in English, with simultaneous interpretation in Japanese. RSVP by 1 December via link here.
