Li Shuang works with moving image installations, performances, interactive websites, and sculptures to investigate contemporary digital landscapes, the relationships between them, and their interactions with users. The different forms of intimacies extant within these interactions become a recurring motif in Li’s work, exploring how technology connects humans, and is a part of a neoliberal apparatus that modulates body and desire. Li further explores the infrastructures and systems that hold together these digital landscapes, observing the fissures and cracks within them.
Li’s solo exhibitions were presented at Galeria Madragoa (Lisbon, 2023); Peres Projects (Berlin, 2022); Cherish (Geneva, 2021); Open Forum (Berlin, 2019); SLEEPCENTER (New York, 2018), and Lab 47 (Beijing, 2016). Her works have also been exhibited at Berlinische Galerie (Berlin, 2022); Ghost 2565 (Bangkok, 2022); Rockbund Art Museum (Shanghai, 2022); 59th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia (Venice, 2022); Tai Kwun Contemporary (Hong Kong, 2022); Para Site (Hong Kong, 2021); Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève (Geneva, 2021); OCAT Shanghai x KADIST Foundation (Shanghai, 2020), and Times Museum (Guangzhou, 2019), amongst others.
